Trail Guide to Heartability

Heartability is a web game that guides you through the mental and emotional journey that comes with setting goals, reaching setbacks, and learning how to move toward your goals.

Life is full of twists and turns and unexpected side quests. If you are walking a road less commonly traveled (say down a creative path) you might end up feeling lost or unsure of which way to move forward.

This is wellness for type b people. Inspired by the video games of our childhood and Jungian Psychotherapy, Heartability has built a set of interactive resources that bridge the gap between the scientific, the philosophical, and the spiritual worlds.

We believe life should be fun and our wellness philosophy is designed to help you navigate the chaos that makes life interesting. If you find yourself here, its time to check in with your heart and see if you are on course to reaching your goals.

If not, we can help you get back on track. There is no right way to play the games at Heartability, but this is the course we recommend:

1. Self Care Bingo

Every video game has a health meter. This is a way to assess your own — is your cup empty or full? You don’t need to fill every square, but consider what columns need more attention to create a more balanced board. When you start filling your inventory, you might take extra resources in areas that are more difficult for you to fulfill.

1.5 Make a Wish

Before you move ahead, consider what you are moving toward. What is your goal? Where do you hope to end up? What do you hope to discover? It doesn’t have to be too specific, but it should be clear to you.

2. Build a Treasure Map

Video games resonate with people because they feel like real life. The Treasure Map game reverse engineers this feeling by helping you build out the emotional world surrounding the goals you aspire to reach.

Feelings are a form of communication, a message trying to reach upper consciousness from deep inside the body. This sounds esoteric, but it’s true when you get hives from anxiety, a stomachache from fear, or a headache from stress. Choose some words to describe the feelings that come up when think of chasing your dreams.

By building a map, you give yourself context to the greater mission at hand and a chance to mentally prepare for the big boss battles that will appear as you approach your destination. There is nothing wrong with an aimless adventure, but even then a map will keep you from getting dangerously lost.

2.5 Visit the Library for Inspiration

If you feel directionless or overwhelmed with options, finding a story that reminds you of your own can help you make a decision. You don’t have to find the perfect book, even one you disagree with will tell you something about where to go. Trust your intuition when it shares it’s opinion.

3. Fill your Inventory

The wellness industry is constantly fighting over what product will change your life, but we think any product can change your life if it is the right one at the right time.

Learning how to assess your personal needs and apply the correct solution is no different than mastering a video game. You read the health bar and the fill the empty spaces until you have enough to move forward. Too often humans expect their bodies to run on empty. Burnout is not a sign of weakness, it is a fact of life. We only have so much gas in the tank. Don’t forget to stock up.

3.5 Visit the Toolshed for resources

Instead of trying to do everything all the time, take what you need, as needed. If a routine begins to feel overwhelming, ask yourself (or us) if there is a stronger tool that can replace that extra effort you are putting in.

Hint: there is always an alternative.

4. Build a Character (coming soon)

You contain multitudes. We usually try to be the best selves but this changes based on the environment. Visiting the character builder can help you identify what traits to call forward based on the landscape ahead.

4.5 Book a 1:1 session for support

If navigating your dreams feels too overwhelming to tackle personally, ask for help! Together we will explore the Library and Toolshed and guide you to resources that might be of use based on the goals presented. Not sure what your goals are? Great, we can start there too.

5. Share your vision with the Discord community

You don’t have to go it alone anymore! Join our discord community and share your dreams to amplify them with collective vision of the kind of world we want to see flourish (one where people’s dreams come true). Remember: Perfection is impossible. Trying is the key to success.
